“Ah, that was fun!” Amu says as we all sit down.

I nod, sitting next to Kukai.

“We probably look weird. I mean, 10 kids all together at a diner,” Kukai whispers in my ear, his breath tickling my ear.

“Kukai… there’s only 9 of us,” I reply.

Kukai grins and pinches me.

“Eh!” I shout, and punch him in the arm.

“You two quit it!” Miliko commands.

“You’re just jealous!” I accuse.

“Suuure, I’m jealous of Kukai. Eugh,” Miliko says sarcastically.

“What’s wrong with me?” Kukai asks.

“Everything,” Miliko replies, laughing.

This makes everyone laugh. I can see why we all get along so well.

“Hi! Can I take your order?” the man asks.

Everyone orders, and the man walks off.

“Guys! I’ve got an idea! Let’s all try to think of were we want to be in 15 years!” Miliko laughs.

“I’ll be 29!” I screech.

“29? I’m gonna be 31,” Kukai sighs.

“In all seriousness, guys!” Miliko says.

“Alright,” I giggle.

Amu speaks up first.

“In 15 years, I wanna be married. And I wanna have at least one kid,” Amu says.

“In 15 years, I can see myself with Kukai. With a 4 year old and a baby,” I announce.

“Sounds good, Riki-chan,” Kukai adds, kissing the top of my head.

“Ugh! GET A ROOM!” Rima yells.

“No thanks, hon,” I reply, laughing.

“Miliko?” Amu asks.

“Ah… I want to at least have found someone,” she announces truthfully.

“We still haven’t heard from Tadase, Yaya, Kei, Rima, and Nagi!” I say.

“My future is the same as Amu’s,” Tadase says.

“Rima? Nagi?” Miliko asks.

They both simply shrug.

“You guys suck. Okay, Yaya?” Amu asks.

Yaya also shrugs.

Before I can even ask, Kei also shrugs.

“Wow. Only Miliko, Tadase, Amu, Kukai and I have a future goal!” I laugh.

Just then, the server walks out and gives us all our food.

After a while, and a meal, we’re all done.

“Ah… that was good,” Kukai sighs.

“It was. Guys, it’s 11,” I announce.

“We don’t have to go home yet,” Miliko tells us.

“Let’s go have a little party of our own,” I suggest.

“Oh, I know a few kids that were going to the park after the dance! Let’s go there!” Miliko shouts.

After paying, we all start running to the park. It’s hard in heels, but I manage.

When we arrive, we see about 20 kids dancing and listening to music.

I drop my phone, coat, and wallet on a bench and begin dancing.

“Much more fun than at the school,” I tell Kukai.

He shrugs.

“You’re such a buzz kill,” I sigh.

“Yeah, and you’re suuuuuch a daredevil,” Kukai replies sarcastically.

“Oh yeah, really?” I ask.

He nods, grinning.

Still wearing my heels, I run over to the kid’s play area. I climb on it, going to the very top. That’d be the very of a tall slide. The slide is about 13 feet high.

Kukai’s face is one of a mixture of disbelief, worry, and surprise. He shakes his head, then pushes through the crowd to me.

“Get down!” he commands.

“No! I’m being a daredevil,” I laugh.

“Reika! I’m serious!” he yells.

“So am I!” I reply.

Then, Taylor Swift’s ‘Our Song’ comes on. I stand there for a moment, unsure what to do.

Miliko whistles from the ground below me. She points up, and I watch all eyes follow up to me.

A few people in the crowd are dancing, so I begin dancing as well.

“Reika!” Kukai hisses.

I ignore him, smiling. Once the song’s over, I make a quick decision to show Kukai that I’m a daredevil.

I jump off the top of the slide, where the crowd it. They catch me, and lower me to the ground. I feel Kukai grab my arm, and drag me out of the crowd.

“What the crap, Reika?!” Kukai shouts.

“What do you mean?!” I reply.

“You could have been seriously hurt!”

“I knew they’d catch me.”

“What if they didn’t?”

“Well… I know you’d catch me.”

“What if I didn’t?”

“But they caught me! So it’s not a big deal. This conversation is over.”

“Reika, stop. I’m taking you home,” Kukai snaps.

“No! You don’t have control over me!” I scream.

“Be serious, Reika! Grow up! We’re not kids anymore!”

“I know! And that’s why we’re done!” I scream at the top of my lungs.

To suit the moment perfectly, it begins raining.

I grab my coat, phone, and wallet and begin walking back to Miliko’s.

“Reika!” Miliko calls, but I ignore her.

I tear my hair down, the wet curls falling down my back.

I hear Change playing back at the park.

Reika, don’t give up yet. Go fight! Nozomi’s voice tells me. I spin around, stomping back to the party.

I throw my stuff down on a bench again, and find Kukai.

“This fight isn’t over,” I tell him. I grab his arm and we walk to the edge of the park.

“What?” he snaps.

“You’re not my dad. Quit acting like it,” I tell him.

“Reika, I’m just watching out for you!”

“I don’t need you telling me what to do!”

“I love you more than anything! I don’t want to see you hurt!”

“I know! But for the last DAMNED TIME. I DON’T NEED YOU TELLING ME WHAT TO DO!”

“Reika, stop it,” Kukai hisses.

“No! You can’t tell me what to do!” I reply.

“Both of you stop it,” Tadase shouts.

“No!” I shout back.

“He’s right,” Kukai says.

I slap Kukai, grab my stuff and walk away.

I remember breaking down and sobbing, right there on the sidewalk in the rain. I also remember Nagi there, giving me his coat. Sitting with me, waiting with me. Next thing I remember is lying on the air mattress, wet and depressed.

When morning comes, I’m waking, stiff.

I look at my body, still wearing my purple dress, and heels. My hair is tied up in a bun, although I don’t remember how. Nagi’s coat is draped over me.

I sit up, setting the coat off to my left. The previous night comes back in flashes.

I finally break, falling on the sidewalk. My tears mix in with the heavy rain. I sob, my body heaving.

“Here,” I hear Nagi’s voice. I look up, and see him handing me his coat. I take it and wrap it around my shoulders.

“You alright?” he asks.

“Not really,” I reply.

“Wanna talk about it?” he ponders.

“Not really,” I sigh.

“Alright,” he says, and sits down next to me.

I shake my head, sighing. I take off the heels, and stand, creeping down the stairs.

I find everyone but Kukai in the living room.

“That fight last night was crazy,” Amu says.

“I can’t believe it,” Miliko sighs.

“Craziest night ever,” Yaya announces.

“What are they talking about?” I ask myself, spying on them.

“I mean, Reika and Kukai were so good together!” Nagihiko tells us.

“Didn’t you find her crying on the sidewalk?” Miliko asks.

Nagihiko nods.

“What did she tell you?” Amu presses on.

“Nothing,” Nagihiko replies.

“What do you mean, nothing?” Miliko shouts.

“I asked her if she was okay. She said not really. I asked if she wanted to talk about. She said not really, so I left it alone,” Nagi responds.

“Oh,” Amu and Miliko say.

“Let’s get you home,” Nagihiko sighs, standing. He offers me his hand, and I take it. I stand, and begin walking home.

Once we’ve reached Miliko’s house, Nagi leads me upstairs and to Miliko’s room. I lie down on the air mattress, and fall asleep right after Nagi gently drops his spread out coat over me.

I run upstairs, and lock myself in the bathroom.

No POV

“What was that?” Miliko asks, turning around.

She stands and runs upstairs, hearing the bathroom door slam shut.

“Reika?” she asks, standing outside the door.

All the red-headed girl can hear are sobs.

In the basement, Kukai sits on the hide-a-bed, sighing deeply. He lifts a hand to wipe away a tear.

“If Reika could see me, she’s punch me in the arm,” Kukai chuckles.

“Quit crying, you blubbering idiot,” Nagihiko snaps.

Kukai glares.

Nagihiko rolls his eyes, and says, “She’s sobbing in the bathroom.”

“Why would I care?”

“Oh, I don’t know. Maybe because you kinda professed your love for her last night.”

Kukai simply shrugs.

“When she needed someone last night, I was there when you should have been,” Nagihiko snaps.

“You already broke her heart once. Don’t do it again,” Kukai growls.

“I’m not planning on controlling her like you were,” Nagihiko remarks.

Before Kukai can reply, Nagihiko leaves the basement.
