I woke one morning, and even though the warm sunshine beamed in on my yellow bedspread, I was not smiling nor feeling happy.

I threw back my covers and sat up, flapping my wings once. I stood and turned, looking out the window.

The sun shined down on the academy, and I thought I should feel happy. There were already kids outside practicing with swords and things. I looked closely at everyone, looking for one person in peticular.

I didn't see him, even though I knew I wouldn't. I sighed and pressed my hand to the glass window, brushing my hair away with my free hand.

"Rathina, something wrong?" I heard Malcolm's voice ring out from the other side of the room.

"No," I said, forcing a smile and walking to the bathroom.

I took a long hot shower but still felt no better. I dressed in simple jeans and a tank-top, glad I didn't have to wear the uniform on weekends.

I brushed my hair out, slid my white clips in to keep the bangs out of my eyes.

I pulled on socks and tied on my dark blue converse all-stars.

"Hi, Flame," I said as I stood up. I grabbed my cloak and swung it around my back, fastening the one simple button at my neck.

"Morning, Rathina," she greeted me.

"Ugh," I sighed as I tugged on my cloak as it choked me.

I threw it on my bed and pointed my finger at my wings.

"Your time has come, your time has gone. Your home is here with me, but for today, please go away," I chanted. I felt a tingling feeling and my wings dissolved into a dust and the pink and purple dust went into a small glass bottle. It corked itself and I grabbed it.

"Awesome!" I laughed and tossed it in my messenger back as I put the strap on my shoulder.

I grabbed a black hoodie off my bed and left the room, pulling the large yellow door closed behind me. I took off my bag for a moment to put on the jacket then put the black and white bag back on and continued walking.

I went to the common area, where I sat on a couch, thinking.

Erifee didn't even say goodbye. He just left... not even a note! Not even a call! I finally thought I might have the guts to tell him I have a crush on him! I miss him so much...

"Rathina? Is something wrong?" Elista's voice broke my train of thought.

"Hm? Oh, yeah...," I replied.

"You sure?" she asked, taking a seat.

"Just thinking," I said.

"About what?" she pondered.

"Erifee," I said.

"Oh...," she said and shifted in her chair.

"Please don't tell anyone," I begged.

"I won't," she said with a laugh.

"With the ball coming up... I don't have anyone to go with. I thought about asking Aspen but... if Erifee ever returns I'll have that guilt hanging over me," I said.

"Hm...," Elista hummed.

"Ever since someone put that spell on me... something happened and I... I...," I attempted.

"Oh my gosh, Rathina! You're not stuttering!" Elista gasped.

"Oh my gosh, yeah!" I giggled.

I stood and walked to the nearest window. I threw it open and leaned out.

"Rathina Hope Flitter has lost her stutter!" I yelled, grinning.

I closed the window as I realized something.

"I wanted Erifee to be the person I was talking to when I lost my stutter...," I trailed off, leaning against the window.

"Oh... I'm sorry Rathina," Elista said.

"No, no, it's not your fault," I said.

I trudged back to my room and fell asleep.
Poor Rathina! She's so heartbroken.

Malcolm, Elista, and Flame to their right owners!
