Literature Text
Akiko is frozen, unsure to ignore the text or reply. She takes a shaky deep breath, clicking buttons on her phone to call the one person she can rely on.
“Hello?”
“Nagihiko, you know how I told you how Eito was trying to tell me something all day? Well he texted me… and he said he wants to be more than friends! What do I do?!”
Akiko’s long-time friend bursts into laughter.
“It’s not funny! What do I do?!”
“Akiko-chan, like I always tell you, follow your heart.”
“But what if my heart is… I don’t know, drunk?”
More laughter. “Akiko-chan, hearts can’t get drunk!”
“Well… I don’t want to screw things up even more!”
“Follow your gut, then.”
“When I follow my gut, I end up in the ditch.”
“So follow your heart, like I’ve been telling you!”
“I will!”
A chuckle. “Bye, Akiko-chan.”
“Bye, Nagi-chan!”
Akiko excitedly hangs up her current phone call and calls Eito. But instead of a warming voice Akiko is used to, a shrill, rude voice answers.
“Listen, hon, I know you have your eyes set on Eito. But he’s mine. So you’d better back off, sweetie, unless you want to be publicly humiliated.”
“And may I ask who the hell I’m talking to?”
“It’s his girlfriend.”
“Minami, why do you have Eito’s phone?”
“Dunno, just felt like it. I had a feeling you’d call him after I saw him send that awful, lying text.”
“Minami, you’re an awful person.”
“Well… so are you. And so is Eito. And for cheating on me with you, I’m going to make him pay. I’m going to publicly humiliate both of you. Do something that people will remember forever. Like… that girl who got pregnant in high school but got an abortion. Sounds like a great title for you! As for Eito… the guy who gave a bunch of chicks an STD and had to switch schools.”
Akiko yanks the phone from her ear, hanging up.
Was this entire thing just Minami playing with her? With the text?
Akiko quickly moves to her computer, emailing Eito.
Did you know Minami has your phone?!
A few moments… and a reply!
She said she was playing games on it. I heard it ringing but she must’ve answered. Nothing important, I’m guessing, or else she would have told me. Why?
Have you texted me in the last 10 minutes?
Yes, and you know what it said. Why?
I was the one who called you a few moments ago. Minami answered… she’s going to spread rumors about us. That you cheated on her with me. And that I got pregnant in high school but got an abortion. And that the reason you had to switch schools was that you gave a bunch of chicks an STD.
Akiko can imagine Eito’s face as he reads this. Her computer pings with a Skype call. She answers, and it’s Eito.
“Are you serious?!” he demands.
“I wouldn’t lie to you,” she replies softly. Eito grabs his small laptop and storms into the room where Minami sits, playing a game on Eito’s phone.
“Hey, Minami?” he asks softly.
“Yes, honey?” she replies. Eito has sat the laptop down, so Akiko can see them but Minami can’t tell he’s got Akiko on Skype.
Eito walks to her, and snatches his phone from her. He clicks a few buttons… and Minami and Akiko’s phone call plays. At the end of it, Eito glares at her.
“Why?”
“Why what?”
“Why are you threatening to spread rumors about Akiko and me?”
“Well, she’s trying to steal you from me!”
“Okay, yes, but what about rumors about me?”
Akiko doesn’t let this ‘okay, yes’ from Eito bother her, because he’s just playing along with Minami.
“Well… I….”
“I know you’ve been cheating on me! He told me.”
“He lies.”
“Oh, so you have been cheating!”
“How’d you know?!”
“You just told me!”
Eito laughs, moving the laptop to where Minami can see Akiko.
“Listen, you little selfish little bitch, you’d better stay away from me. And Eito. Or I will spread the nastiness rumors that have ever existed. You’ll be remembered with those rumors for the rest of your pathetic little life. And if you spread rumors about us, I swear, I will make your life a living hell,” Akiko spouts, wearing an expression of a glare with disgust mixed in.
Minami, obviously scared, grabs her coat and stuff and runs. Eito laughs, grinning at his friend on the computer.
“Sakura Drive?” he asks.
“Race you there,” Akiko replies, grinning. She clicks ‘end’ on the computer screen, to end the call, and slips flats on. She grabs her phone and wallet and stuffs them into her pockets as she races downstairs and outside.
Over the entire time of the emails, and calls, the sun recently set.
The soft wind blows the hair back from her face as she runs, whipping around corners to the ramen shop. Eito already stands there, grinning.
“Beat you,” he announces triumphantly.
“So what’s the penalty for loser?” Akiko ponders softly.
“A kiss.”
Akiko grins, wrapping her arms around Eito’s neck. He pulls her close, his hands resting at her waist. She just stands for a moment, gazing up into his hazel eyes. He leans down, and Akiko finds the lingering lime taste on his skin.
It’s the kiss Akiko has been desperate for.

He hadn't had expected to find a flower quite like this one.
Once-ler had been enjoying a walk through the valley, whistling to himself, arms swinging by his sides and had been thoroughly content with life and what it had handed him. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, the fish were humming
it was more or less the perfect day. That's when he came across a little clearing in the forest, and spotted a flittle pink flower growing out of the middle of absolutely nothing
There weren't other flowers around it, or bushes, unlike the other flowers he had happened across whilst waling through the valley. In fact, the flower looked mor
