No Secrets Chp. 2

When I woke, I was lying on the couch. The place I’d passed out at. Trembling, I brought my right hand in front of me, to find the ring was still in place.

It wasn’t just a dream.

I rubbed my temples for a moment, before kicking my boots off and going upstairs to my room. I grabbed my phone, thinking a moment before dialing a number.

First off: My best friend, Elysia Martin.

“Yo!” she answered.

“Hi!” I replied, happily, as I twirled my black hair around my finger.

“What’s up?” she pondered.

“I just found out… some… interesting information. But…. I can’t say it over the phone. Can you come over?”

A pause.

“Yeah, sure! I’ll be over in a few!”

The call was over, and like her word, Elysia was there in a few minutes. I led her upstairs to my bedroom, and we sat on my bed together. I took a breath, and started to explain.

“Okay, so, you know the Greek gods?” I began, raising an eyebrow.

Elysia stared at me a moment a moment, a look of doubt in her eyes. “Yes. I have a feeling I know where this conversation is going.”

“Okay…?”
“Are you going to tell me you’re a demigod?”
“Wait… what?”
“I’m a daughter of Zeus…”
“Oh. I’m a daughter of Athena!”

Elysia’s lips spread into a grin, holding a hand up. “Demigod high-five!” she laughed. I met her hand with mine with a loud cracking sound.

“And the cool thing…” I beamed, making Wisdom appear in my hand.

“That’s totally awesome!” she replied.

We ended up talking for probably another hour and a half before her mom called her to come home for dinner. After she left reluctantly, I took my phone into my hands again, dialing my other best friend’s name.

Erifee Silvers.

Erifee, Elysia, and I were all best friends. It was surprising that Erifee was such good friends with two chicks, but no one really noticed.

“You’re a demigod.”

That’s it? No ‘hello’? No ‘what’s up’? Straight to the point? Besides that, how did he know?

“How did you…?!”
“Elysia.”

Oh. Of course.

“Oh.”
“Just to let you know, you and Elysia aren’t the only people with magic powers in this friend group. I’m an elemental.”
“Well. That’s nice.”
“Yes.”

“Kym, dinner!” my aunt called from downstairs.

“Hey, I gotta go for dinner. Talk to you later, m’kay?”
“Yeah. Bye.”
“Bye!”

I hung up the phone and tucked it into my jacket pocket, jogging down the stairs for dinner. After a lovely dinner, I went upstairs to take a long, hot shower.

I had learned a lot today. About me, and about my friends. My mother was Athena, the Olympic goddess of wisdom. I had an awesome knife concealed as a ring.

I couldn’t decide if this entire deal was cool or creepy. I shrugged and pulled my blankets up to my chin, falling asleep quickly.
