When Autumn finally busted the door open, Kukai and I rushed in. I found Naomi curled up on her bed, sobbing.
"Naomi-chan?" I called softly.
"No… don't fight… Please… stop," she murmured.
Kukai looked to me, eyes wide open.
"It's okay, Naomi-chan," I said softly.
"NO! STOP!" she screamed, pulling at her hair, curling up into a ball.
"Shhh, shhh. Calm down. It's okay, it's okay," I soothed, rubbing her back as I sat down on her bed.
"You're okay. No one will hurt you. We don't want to argue," Kukai added.
Her face went from twisted in terror to frightened. As Kukai and I calmed her, her face showed less and less terror. Soon, she fell asleep, me stroking her hair, her head in my lap. She shivered. I lied her head on a pillow, careful as not to wake her. I called Kukai in.
"What should I do about the cuts on her knees?" I asked quietly.
"We need to clean them and bandage them," Kukai replied, and grabbed a first-aid kit. I pulled out wound cleaner. I poured it over the bloody gashes and watched as the dried blood rolled away. I almost couldn't stand it, it was so gross. After the cuts were cleaned, I saw they weren't as bad as I thought. Kukai gently put bandages over them. I swept up the broken glass while Kukai cleaned the mess we made and threw the trash away. I draped a blanket over Naomi's shivering body and went to talk to the other Guardians.
I gently closed the door behind me, then stepped quietly to the kitchen.
"She's calmed down. I'm not quite sure what happened," I said quietly, folding my arms.
"What happened in class leading up to the spaz-out?" Tadase asked gently.
"The teacher stepped out for a moment to talk to the principal. The class was really loud, so I yelled at everyone to quite down. Another kid yelled back no. Even though I'm teacher's assistant," I sigh.
"And then?" Yaya pushed.
"Well, then, I yelled at him to sit down and shut up. We got in an argument and the entire class began argueing, taking sides with me or him. Naomi was just sitting at her desk, holding her head. Then… she screamed 'No!' and ran out. I followed her here," I finished, sinking to the floor, burying my face in my knees.
"It's not your fault. That kid should have respected you as if you were a teacher," Nagi said loudly.
"Yes, it's my fault for not just going to get the teacher. It's all my fault," I muttered, tears springing from my eyes. Nagi stooped and hugged me.
"Naomi-chan?" I yelled.
"I guess it's both of our faults," I giggled.
She smiled at me and we went out to talk to the others.
I pushed him away. "I don't need sympathy," I growled coldly. My head popped up when I heard a cry come from Naomi's room. I sprang up and ran to her room.
"How did I get here?" she breathed heavily.
"You ran from school and went home. You got upset because some kids in the class were argueing… including me," I sighed, sitting on her bed.
"I shouldn't have flipped like that," she sighed.
"No. I'm sorry. It's my fault," I said quietly.
"No. It's my fault. I'm sorry," she replied, then hugged me.
We walked out to talk to the others. Nagi looked hurt, and I smiled with a sorry in my eyes. He smiled back at me.
"Guys, I'm so sorry that I made you all come out here," Naomi said quietly.
"It's okay. I completely understand," Tadase said quietly. Rima just nodded, and Yaya ran over and gave Naomi a hug attack.
"It's okay, Naomi-chan!" she giggled.
"We all care about you," Nagi said, smiling. Kukai smiled as well.
"Let's go back to school," I laughed.
"Actually, Miliko-chan, I think I want to spend the rest of the day home," Naomi said quietly.
"Okay. I understand," I whispered back, hugged her, then lead everyone out and back to the school.
"Miss Nozaki?" the teacher called when we got back.
"Yes?" I asked, smiling hoping I wasn't in trouble.
"I got a call. I'm just wondering why Miss Hiraku won't be attending the rest of school," the teacher asked politely.
"She's not feeling well. I suggested she stay home so she could rest up and attend school tomorrow," I said brightly, smiling.
"Ah. Okay. Thank you, Miss Nozaki. You may take your seat," the teacher responded, and I took my seat at the front of the classroom.
I was lying on my bed, sighing to Kumiko and Mariko.
"You shoulda just punched him right in the jaw," Mariko growled, punching at the air.
"No! That might have gotten blood on her clothes," Kumiko shrieked.
"I just feel bad for Naomi," I sighed, hiding my face under a pillow.
My phone buzzed with a text. I pulled it out, sighing.
