That day, we had so much fun. Kukai, Naomi and I played soccer and one of her charas hatched.

I slowly walked over to the bench but collapsed on the ground before the bench. I was breathing heavily but smiling.

"You got all sweaty!" Kumiko trilled.

"That's what happens when you play sports, princess," Mariko growled.

Naomi and I laughed, and spotted Kukai jogging over to us.

"You cheated," I giggled.

"Prove it," Kukai replied. I stood, and flicked the star in his hair.

"Oh… yeah… fail…. I suck," Kukai laughed.

Naomi and I chuckled and I grabbed my water bottle, gulping the water down quickly.

"Bye, Kukai-kun! Bye, Naomi-chan!" I yelled loudly, as the two walked away from me. I walked the short one block back to my house, carrying about 4 bags from the mall. When I got to the door, I set down my bags and unlocked the house. I stepped in the house, kicking the door closed behind me.

"Anyone home?" I called loudly.

"Yeah!" I heard Kei yell back.

"Mom and Dad at work?" I said loudly as I trudged up the stairs.

"Yup," Kei replied and stepped out into the hall.

"Did you buy enough stuff?" he laughed, taking 2 bags from my hands. He set them on my bed, and I set mine by them.

"Thanks, Kei-kun," I said, smiling, and Kei left my room, closing the door after a warm smile.

I put my clothes away, pausing to look at each. I threw the bags away, then discovered the last bag. I smiled as I picked it up. I pulled out the long green dress gently and held it up. I yanked off my jeans and t-shirt and slowly and carefully put the dress on. I adjusted the straps and flowy pieces. I set up my camera and set a timer. I carried it downstairs and took a few pictures.
Me walking down the stairs, looking to the left.
Walking up the stairs, smiling.
Twirling, my arms tucked in.
Standing elegantly, my arms spread out to show the long pieces.
Laughing.

I grabbed the camera and ran back up the stairs. I positioned the camera, and sat on my bed.

My face in my hands.
Standing, looking out the window.
Laying on my bed, arms spread out, one leg hanging off.
Taking my shoes off.

I shut my camera off and took the dress off, hanging it up gently. I flipped through the pictures, smiling. I took my hair down. I dressed in pajama pants and a tank-top, pulled my hair up in a messy bun, and went downstairs to watch TV.

I woke up, yawning. I yanked the stupid uniform on and hurried to school, camera in my bag.

"You looked pretty, Miliko-chan!" Kumiko kept saying.

"It wasn't bad. You did look kinda pretty," Mariko said, and I saw her smile.

"Even the little meanie has some kindness in her heart. Look at the little smile," I giggled, and attempted to pinch her cheeks.

"EH! NO!" she yelled, and laughed.

"Get back here!" I yelled, running along the sidewalk after my sidewalk.

"Hey!" I heard a voice yell as I collided with them.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" I yelled, helping them up. Then I laughed.

"Hey, Miliko-chan!" Naomi laughed.

"Morning, Naomi-chan! I've got some pictures to show you," I chirped, pulling my camera out.

"I did a photoshoot last night out of boredom," I explained as Naomi flipped through the pictures.

She just smiled at me, then said, "You look great!"

"Thanks! I'm so excited for the dance! I'm gonna ask Nagi to be my date…," I giggled, putting my camera away. I then spotted the boy with long purple hair.

"Be right back!" I yelled as I tore across the yard to the boy.

"Oh, hey, Miliko-chan," he said, smiling.

"Hi! So uhm, I have a question?" I asked.

"Yeah?" he responded.

"Uhm… if you don't already have a date or anything… do you wanna come to the dance with me?" I asked shyly.

"I'm sorry, Miliko-chan, but I'm already going with Rima-chan. I'm sorry," he said, then turned to walk away, hand-in-hand with Rima. I stood, my heart ripped in half.

"FINE THEN!" I screamed, then walked back to Naomi.

"He's freaking going with RIMA!" I ranted.

"Why her?" she asked calmly.

"I don't know! She's short, and not pretty," I growled.

Naomi shrugged, and we kept walking.

When we got to class, I didn't see Amu. I'd just seen her yesterday. It turns out she was absent.

During lunch, Mariko cried, "X Egg!" Naomi and I jumped up and ran after my chara. When we got there, I saw a lot of X charas and X eggs.

"My Heart: Unlock!" I yelled, floating into the air with Mariko.

I transformed, and posed, yelling out, "Chara Nari: Rebel Gem!"

I sighed as the rest of the others showed up. Tadase, Yaya, Rima, Nagihiko.

"I've got this!" I yelled, wanting to be an actual Guardian, instead of Amu taking all our work. I was sick of her being the hero.

"Where's Amu?" Tadase asked, looking.

"I'm the hero today! Amu decided not to show up for school," I yelled.

I pointed my staff at a few eggs in a group.

"Dark Heart: Brighten!" I yelled, and a zap of energy flew at them. Bright blue lightning zapped around all of them, and they flew off, white and purified.

"It'll take too long to purify all these," I sighed. I felt a heavy wind, but no one else was affected by it.

I screeched as I was lifted into the air. When I landed, I was in tight knee-length shorts, a belly-shirt, and the same boots and hairstyle.

I twirled around, yelled, "Lighting Acceleration!" I flew into the air, made a swirly pattern around all the eggs, and hit the ground. When my feet touched again, blue lightning ran along the line, and white purified eggs flew off. Amu showed up as the last 10 flew off.

"Guess I'm late," she said, out of breath.

"Guess I did my job. Guess I'm the hero," I said, untransformed, and ran back to school with Naomi.

I walked away from the school with Naomi, smiling widely.

"That move Lighting Acceleration was awesome!" Naomi giggled as we walked.

"Guess we were do for an upgrade," I laughed.

"Yeah. I just wish I could Chara Nari," Naomi sighed.

"It'll come with time," I said thoughtfully, staring a cloud, frowning.

"I had my eggs for like, a month before they even hatched. Then another month for a Chara Nari," I continued.

"I know it's not supposed to happen right away but…," she said, looking down.

"Amu transformed the same day Ran hatched. But the others, like Tadase and Yaya, had their charas for years before they transformed. Each egg is different," I explained, looking at her, pulling hair out of my face because the wind had blown it.

Naomi and I kept walking.

"Well, here's my house. Call or text ya later!" I called as I ran up the porch and in the front door.

"Mom, I'm home!" I hollered as I stepped in the door. My tall, skinny mother stepped out of the kitchen, drying her hands. She's wore a knee-length dress and apron, her hair tied out of her face.

"Baking?" I assumed as I started on homework.

"Yes," she mumbled, stirring a bowl of something with a delicious aroma.

"Mm… smells good. Hope I get some," I giggled, grabbing a snack, and running up to my room.

I organized my desk. Pictures and homework littered it, and I made a stack off all my pictures. I throw away all old homework. I grabbed my pencil cup and tossed in all my pencils and pens, setting it by the far edge of my desk. I selected a few pictures, that consist of me and Naomi, Kei and me, Kei, Taishi, and me, my entire family, me and my charas, and one picture of me and Nagi, smiling at each other. A picture Amu stole. I smiled, tracing my finger on it. Then a thought popped into my mind. I yanked my hand away from the picture as if it was on fire. He never liked me. He's in love with Rima. I sigh.

"Are you excited for the dance, Miliko-chan?" Naomi asked the next morning.

"Yeah!" I giggled. We made our way to the Royal Garden where I found Nagi sitting alone.

"Oh, Miliko-chan. I need to talk to you," he said, shooting a glance towards Naomi.

"I'll just be outside," she said, and walked out.

Once she was outside, Nagi stared at me for a moment.

"Miliko-chan, uhm, Rima said her parents didn't want her coming to the dance with me… so I was wondering if you wanted to come with me," he said slowly, eyes twinkling.

"Uhm, my parents insist on dropping me off personally… but I'll be your date. For you know, slow dances and stuff," I said shyly.

"Great! Thank you!" he said quickly. He gave me a hug then ran off, and Naomi came in.

"Why do you both look so happy?" she asked slowly.

"We've both got a date. Each other," I said dreamily.

Naomi gasped, smiling, and gave me a hug.

"That's great!" she giggled.

"I know, right?" I laughed, and we walked to class.

At my house, Naomi and I got ready for the dance. I did my hair up, in am elegant bun thingie. Like fancy chicks wear their hair. I slid in some little clips so it'd stay and sprayed a lot of hair spray on. I carefully applied concealer to cover acne, pale green eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, and blush. I slipped out of my sweat pants and tank-top, and gently slid on my dress. I adjusted the wing pieces and turned to face Naomi. She wore her hair gently falling down her back, and her dress. From across the room, I couldn't see any make-up. She had a white clip in her hair to hold it back from her face.

"You look awesome!" I giggled.

"You look totally pretty!" she laughed back.

"Thanks!" I shrieked.

"No problem! And, thanks," she hollered.

"No problem," I replied.

I grabbed the black clutch my mom gave me and waited by the door. Naomi grabbed a small white clutch off of my bed and joined me.

"Okay. My parents are going to take a lot of pictures. Be ready," I giggled. I went out first. I asked Naomi to hold my clutch. I started down the stairs.

One hand was on the rail, the other holding my dress so I wouldn't step on it. I looked out and to the left, as if looking for my date. My parents snapped the image. Naomi threw down the purses, and she came down, holding a side of the dress in both hands as not to step on it. She was smiling, looking straight out.

There was a picture of the two of us laughing. A picture of us dancing with each other as friends, giggling. A picture of us fixing our hair and make-up in the bathroom. Waving as we walked out the front door. That was all. We got into our parents car and went to the dance.

I hopped out, and walked into the school, treading on the red carpet leading up the front door. Parents and teachers behind red ropes cheered and yelled for me. I smiled, and walked. I turned back to them at the door. I waved at all of them, smiling. I stepped into the school, doors held open for me by more teachers. I waited for Naomi. She stepped out, and everyone went wild. I saw a couple of students yelling. She smiled, blushed, and joined me, where we entered the gym.

"Where's Nagi?" I asked as I entered the gym. She shrugged, and I set out to find him. I found him dancing with Tadase. I laughed.

"Hey, Nagi-kun!" I laughed, putting a hand on his shoulder.

"Hey, Miliko-chan!" he replied.

"I'm gonna go find Naomi," I said loudly over the music and found her at a punch table. I got a cup and we found a bench to sit on.

A slow song started, some girls left, some came in, some stayed. I realized it was for boys to come and ask you for a dance. I saw Rima at the end. I spotted Nagi in the crowd, fighting his way through the crowd.  He was staring at Rima.

"May I have this dance?" he asked Rima, and led her off. I glared as they danced.

"What is he doing?" Naomi asked in disbelief.

"I have no idea," I fumed.

A fast song started.

I went up to Nagi. I glared at him. I raised my hand, then swung it at him. I slapped him in the face.

"That's for lying," I seethed.

I slapped him again, harder.

"And that's for misleading me that you liked me!" I screamed and ran off, back to Naomi on the bench. After a few more fast songs, a slow song started playing. I was looking at my lap.

I saw a hand come into vision.

"May I have this dance?" a familiar voice asked. I looked up. Kei was standing before me.

"Yes," I giggled, and let him lead me onto the floor.

"You look pretty," he said, smiling down at me.

"Thank you for coming," I said quietly.

"I saw those slaps. Nice job," he chuckled.

"I know, right?" I giggled as we turned circles on the wood floor, patterns from the disco ball spinning under our feet.

My older brother smiled down at me. I was happy. Really happy.
