As we walked into the school, I gave Naomi a weary look. She hadn't been to school for a week. Good thing I'd grabbed her homework.

"So…" I began, grabbing my book from my locker.

"So what?" Naomi answered, slamming her locker door shut.

I shrugged. "How does it feel to be back to school?"

"It's annoying. Everyone's oohing and aahing over me, and Tadase's yelling at me because I was gone for a week, and I'm a Guardian, and I REALLY CAN'T TAKE IT!" she yelled.

"Well, shoulda thought of that before you left all of us," I snapped back, storming into the classroom.

"Miliko wait!" Naomi called back, but I ignored.

At lunch, Naomi found me again.

"Listen, I'm sorry for getting angry at you. I needed someone to get angry at and… I got angry at you. I'm sorry," she apologized.

"I know. I just… I don't know. I'm not mad," I laughed.

"Good!" she returned.

"Are you hungry?" I asked randomly as we sat.

"NO!" she replied, giggling, meant as a joke.

"Yersh. Eat my MUFFIN!" I yelled, throwing a muffin from my lunch at her. It hit her in the face, and her jaw dropped, and we started giggling like a bunch of school girls.

Oh wait. We ARE a bunch of school girls.

We continued eating, laughing and giggling.

"It's a nice breeze," Kumiko commented.

"Yeah," I said. It got quiet for a moment.

"So… are you going to go home?" I asked.

"I don't know," Naomi replied, picking at her sandwich.

"Your parents are really worried," I said.

"I know," she mumbled.

I was getting aggravated. "Would you like me to go tell your parents were you are or are you gonna go home, and save them their misery?" I yelled.

"I don't know, okay? I don't know! I don't wanna see either of them right now!" she screamed, eyes threatening to burst loose.

"You really don't care, do you? Do you care that your parents are accepting the possibility that you might be DEAD? DID YOU EVER, ONCE, CONSIDER THAT? No, you were off playing with Kukai!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, tears pouring off.

Naomi didn't answer, and I grabbed my lunch bag and stood.

"You disgust me," I snarled before running away, Kumiko and Mariko following at my shoulders.

"Miliko-chaaaan!" Kumiko called, flying rapidly after me.

"Miliko-chan!" Mariko yelled firmly.

I wouldn't stop 'till Naomi's parents knew where she was. I ran all the way out of school and to Naomi's house. I pounded on their door, gasping for air.

Mrs. Hikaru opened the door.

"Miliko?" she asked, her hair sticking out in every-which-way, clothes wrinkled, and a large chocolate stain over her mouth.

"Yes, Mrs. Hikaru?" I wheezed, still needing air.

"Do you know where Naomi-chan is?" she demanded, running a hand over her hair.

"Yes! I'll take you to her. And I know where she's staying," I said, regaining my breath.

"HONEY! MILIKO SAYS SHE'LL TAKE US TO NAOMI! GRAB YOUR JACKET!" Mrs. Hikaru screamed, grabbing a coat and purse. She hopped into her car, and I jumped in the back seat. It felt awkward, but I was determined for Naomi's parents to find her. Mr. Hikaru leaped into the car and we sped off, towards the school. When we got there, we all jumped out and ran to the garden. She wasn't there.

"Hey! KUKAI!" I yelled across the yard. He turned, giving me a startled look.

"Yeah?" he replied.

"Is Naomi still staying at your house?" I asked.

"Ah, no, she said she'd sleep in the park," he returned, and walked away.

We exchanged a look and dashed for the car. Mr. Hikaru sped down a few blocks to the park. We almost flew out of the car and across the park. We found Naomi lying on a bench, shivering.

"NAOMI-CHAN!" her parents screamed, tears running down their faces.

"Mom? Dad?" she asked in disbelief. They hugged her, and she hugged back, half-heartedly.

"Where have you been?" her mother asked angrily.

"I needed some time off," she retorted.

"You don't just run away for two weeks! We thought you were dead," her father yelled.

"I'm sorry," she muttered.

"You better be. You're grounded for 2 months. You don't get to go ANYWHERE. Miliko here will collect your homework and we'll stay home from work to keep an eye on you," her mother snapped.

"Oh, Miliko, getting her homework is okay with you, right? Sorry if I seemed rude when I said that without your permission," her mother said, smiling at me.

"Oh, it's fine. It's no problem at all," I replied, smirking at Naomi.

"Can I have a moment with Miliko, please?" Naomi asked.

"Sure," her parents responded, and Naomi dragged me off.

Naomi gave me a look, a glare, her eyes like daggers.

"How could you? I thought we were friends!" she yelled.

"I thought we were, too," I replied.

"Apparently not. Friends wouldn't do this," she snapped, then slapped me across the face.

"Really?" I growled.

"Yeah, really!" she yelled, and slapped me again two more times.

Her father stormed over.

"That's it! 4 MONTHS!  And you WILL be going to school! I will be there, every moment of the day. Your mother and I will trade off," her father seethed, and grabbed her by the arm and dragged her away.

"I HATE YOU!" she screamed. My nose was trickling blood. I went home, where my mother gasped.

"What happened?" she gasped.

"Naomi slapped me because I took her parents to her. And Naomi's grounded for 4 months," I retorted, while my mother wiped the blood from my nose gently.

"I'm not sure we're friends anymore," I whispered, a tear falling over my cheek.

My mother looked up at me, eyes filled with worry.

"I'm sorry, honey," she whispered, hugging me gently.

"Thanks," I whimpered, wrapping my arms around my mom. I felt so crappy.

After she had bandaged my nose, I went upstairs to my bedroom.

"You should have punched her back!" Mariko laughed.

"Not funny, Mariko," I growled.

"Oh. Okay," she said, frowning, and flew into their house where she punched her mini punching bag.

"I'm sorry that this happened to you, Miliko-chan," Kumiko cooed, fluffing my pillow as best she could.

"Thanks, Kumiko-chan," I replied. I drifted off into a deep sleep. My mother woke me to give me a sandwich and chips.

"Thanks, mom," I said, smiling.

"You're welcome," she laughed, kissed me on top of the head, and left. As I ate, a million thoughts began to run through my mind.

Where would this fight leave Naomi and I in our friendship?
